Why take a boating short break?

When you want to take a break, you will be able to meander gently along the canals and waterways and experience nature at first hand. Depending on the time of year you choose to book, you will get to see a lot of wildlife, maybe even dozens of cute, fluffy ducklings furiously paddling behind their mothers while exploring the reed beds during the spring and early summer.

There can be nothing better for resting the senses than to slowly glide along the Bedfordshire waterways under a canopy of green trees and wide skies. You will get a feeling of exiting anticipation as your float along winding stretches of waterways, waiting to see what is around the next bend.

As you meander along at a pace that is slower than your walking speed, you will have plenty of time to relax and absorb your beautiful surroundings, listening to birdsong and spotting herons, ducks, swans and other birdlife and wildlife busily going about their day.

The air you breathe is quite different here too. You will experience gentle breezes that are heavy with the scent of wildflowers, blossoms and maybe the occasional whiff of cut grass or a nearby farm harvesting.

Narrow boat instructions

When you book one of our narrow boats for the first time, you may be worried about being able to steer the boat. Don't worry because you will have hands-on instruction from our team about navigating your boat safely.

Even if you are a complete novice, you will quickly learn how to navigate your boat and feel confident about steering it safely around the waterways. You will be taught about lock navigation, mooring up and everything else you will need to know.

Waterside Cottage short breaks

If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land, but love watching the comings and goings of some beatiful narrowboats, then you should consider taking a short break in our Waterside Cottage that is situated next to our boating yard.
